Psychological support for adoptees and adoptive parents

The National Social Appeals Board (Ankestyrelsen) offers a range of counselling services for adoptive parents, adoptive families and adoptees after the adoption. Below you can read more about the individual services.

The counselling services are aimed at:

  • Adoptive families who have completed a national or international non-relative adoption
  • Adoptees who have been adopted through an intercountry adoption

It is a requirement that you must be permanently resident in Denmark at the time you apply for counselling, and that the adoption is recognised in Denmark.

If you are within the target group for psychological support for adoptees and adoptive parents in Denmark, the following services are available:

    • Groups for adoptive parents
    • Children's groups
    • Adult groups
    • Theme afternoons on adoption.

Please feel free to contact the National Social Appeals Board if you would like further information about these services.
